Grant Funds Upgrade of South Dallas Tech Center Serving More Than 200 Girls at Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas

$55,000 grant from The Trustees' Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable will modernize Technology Center at Girls Inc. South Dallas campus to prepare girls ages 6-18 for college and career success.

DALLAS – October 03, 2012 – A $55,000 grant from The Trustees' Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable will provide girls and parents from South Dallas and other underserved areas with access to the state-of-the-art technology needed to develop critical technology and workplace skills. By upgrading the center, Girls Inc.—a nonprofit preparing its members, girls ages 6-18, to take charge of their daily lives through effective skills and enrichment programs—will have the structural and technological capacity to provide effective homework support, deliver programs efficiently, infuse programs with modern technology and monitor the success of its members more accurately. The renovation will also help increase access to technology resources for girls, parents, programming staff and other community members from the agency’s other campuses in Love Field, West Dallas and Oak Cliff.

“We are excited to partner with The Trustees' Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable on this critical project,” noted Lori Palmer, Girls Inc. of Dallas CEO. “Equipping girls with technology skills is essential to preparing them for success and economic independence. This project allows our members to discover the possibilities that technology offers and understand the opportunities it presents. We are extremely grateful for The Trustees' Philanthropy Fund of Fidelity Charitable’s commitment to Dallas-area girls and young women.”

The gift will fund the installation and configuration of a server, 20 workstations, the newest software, iPad 3s for the students, a 52-inch LED Smart TV, Smart Board and LiveScribe Pens and required training to use and manage the new technology.
