Achieving excellent grades for the past three years paid off for Girls Inc. high school graduates Jasmine Marroquin, Mariah Anderson and Adalia Salazar. Each was awarded with a sailing trip along the coast of Maine on the Schooner Heritage from Program for Excellence, Inc.

Program for Excellence, Inc., a motivational program which provides incentives for at-risk high school students to achieve good grades, graduate, and attend college.

The joint venture of Girls Inc. and Program for Excellence, Inc. began in February 2007. During the following three years, Marroquin, Anderson and Salazar were motivated to maintain good grades. In return, they received monetary rewards of $100 for an A average and $50 for a B for their achievement during each reporting grade period. The ultimate reward was a high school education and the payoff was an all expense paid trip to Maine in August.  Mayra Alfaro, campus director for Love Field, accompanied the teens.

They experienced six days of adventure and relaxation on the Schooner Heritage, a powerful, wonderful, and stable vessel that is 95 ft long and 24 ft wide, with plenty of deck space for everyone.

Together they shared memorable moments, but the best feast of all - a lobster cookout on the beach. Congratulations to Jasmine, Mariah and Adalia!
